Union Township is located in Union County, New Jersey, one of the most densely populated counties in the most densely populated state in the United States. The Township is the 25th most densely populated municipality in the state with a residential population of over 57,000 people living within 9.4 square miles. This makes the population density 6,244.3 inhabitants per square mile. The Township is located just 12 miles outside of Midtown New York City and is home to critical infrastructure spanning categories such as: transportation, travel, commerce/industry, education, and energy. This results in the daytime population swelling to approximately 250,000 people. Union is also home to Kean University, Overlook Hospital – Union Campus, Avalon Union, and Vermella Union.
